Connelly School of the Holy Child is a Catholic, college preparatory school, committed to the intellectual, spiritual, artistic, physical, and social development of young women in grades 6 through 12. The school emphasizes academic challenge, joy of learning, and education of well-rounded women of faith and action. This position will primarily be teaching health while assisting with teaching physical education and coaching part-time.
Teaching Health Classes to 9th and 10th graders which requires providing all aspects of the health curriculum and program planning.
Fostering a classroom environment that promotes and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body/mental/emotional function and exercise.
Creating a learning experience that motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness and appropriate social and emotional adjustment.
Discovering and developing talents of students in physical achievement; and that develops strength, skill agility, poise, and coordination in accordance with each students ability.
Supervise Locker Room before and after classes.
Communicate effectively with Athletic Director
Coaching one sport per season as needed.
Work as a team with other teachers in the department, including sharing space & equipment
Participate in gym and fitness center supervision
Committed to professional growth to enhance student learning.
Active commitment to enhancing a school community through involvement on committees and in student life activities.
Participate in the school community with other duties as assigned.
Effectively and consistently communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community.
Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and the emotional development of young women.
Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
Integrates the use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education with teaching experience in various levels of secondary education 6-12. Master’s Degree preferred; MSDE certification preferred
Ability to connect the curriculum to real-world scenerios and student background knowledge.
Commitment to embrace the school’s mission and values

Willingness to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, and parents
Experience using a variety of pedagogical strategies

About Connelly School of the Holy Child
Connelly School of the Holy Child Founded in 1961 by the Society of the Holy Child Jesus as a college preparatory school for girls grade 6-12. The school is part of a network of 33 Holy Child schools in the United States, Europe and Africa, which is guided by the educational philosophy of Cornelia Connelly. Holy Child enrolls approximately 300 students every year from the Washington, DC metropolitan area as well as across the globe. Holy Child creates a personal learning experience with an 8 to 1 student to faculty ratio and offers fine arts programs as well as competitive sports teams in soccer, field hockey, volleyball, basketball, cross country lacrosse and more.
