The position The Rochester Board of Education is seeking an outstanding educational leader to serve as the district's superintendent of schools.
The district and community The Rochester City School District is located in western New York State on the south shore of Lake Ontario and is bisected by the Genesee River. It has a city population of over 200,000 and a metropolitan population of over 730,000.
The RCSD is an urban school system that serves approximately 28,000 students in pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 and an additional 15,000 adult students in continuing education programs. It operates 41 elementary schools, 16 secondary schools, one adult/family learning center and several alternative education programs.

Qualifications for the superintendent The Rochester Board of Education seeks an outstanding visionary and innovative instructional leader with successful experience with a culturally diverse student population. The successful candidate will have a proven record of positive student achievement and experience in a similar type of community.
Compensation / Term of employment The Board expects to offer a nationally competitive compensation package negotiable based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. The current superintendent's salary and annuity is $231,750. The Board desires the new superintendent to officially assume this position at a mutually agreeable time, but no later than July 1, 2019.

Licensure Applicants are required to hold or provide evidence of eligibility for a New York superintendent’s certificate. Candidates are encouraged to obtain information about requirements for certification from the New York State Education Department at www.nysed.gov.
Application / Selection procedure Individuals who wish to be considered for this position should complete an online BWP Applicant Data Form at http://www.bwpassociates.com. An application file must include a letter of interest indicating reasons for interest in the position, a current resume, and at least three letters of reference. Candidates must send these materials electronically with the online Applicant Data Form. Official transcripts will be required from candidates who are invited to interview with the school board.
All materials received will be acknowledged and treated confidentially. BWP & Associates will screen the applications of all candidates. The Board will interview leading candidates. Finalists will be asked to return for a second interview. Applicants should not make personal contact with members of the school board.
Application deadline - March 10, 2019 Letters of application and other required materials must be received by BWP & Associates no later than March 10, 2019. The Board expects to finalize the search by the early April.
