2019-20 Job Opening: Full-Time Upper School Spanish Teacher
St. Luke’s School, a secular, college-preparatory day school serving grades 5 through 12 in New Canaan, Connecticut, seeks a full-time teacher to join its award-winning World Language (WL) Department. The WL team is comprised of 6 Spanish teachers, 5 French teachers, 3 Classics teachers, and 1 Mandarin teacher. The WL program is known regionally and nationally for its innovations, use of cutting-edge technology, blended/online course offerings, and total immersion modern language classes. Since 2015, the St. Luke’s French program has been awarded the status of “AATF Exemplary French Program with Distinction”: the highest rank of French programs nationally.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Teach full-time course load of four or five upper school Spanish classes, from level I to IV. Ability to also teach upper school French at any level also highly desirable.
Participate in an after-school activity for three seasons (athletic coaching or debate preferred).
Serve as co-advisor for a group of 6 to 8 students.
Assist with supervisory duties, such as study hall proctoring, lunchroom supervision, and chaperoning events.
Contribute as member of grade level teaching teams designing interdisciplinary units of study.
