Head-Royce School is seeking a dedicated Lower School Spanish educator to teach introductory Spanish in grades K-5. The Spanish teacher will introduce K-5 students to the Spanish Language and cultures of the Spanish speaking world, by establishing an appropriate and engaging learning environment and offering varied learning activities. Our educational philosophy focuses on preparing students with the skills necessary to succeed as global citizens in the 21st century. Our faculty create classrooms that encourage students to participate in experiential learning, take risks, view the world through multiple lenses, utilize innovative tools, and demonstrate proficiencies through a range of assessments that include real world problems and performances. Beyond the classroom, teachers are expected to take on Lower-School-wide duties and participate in the life of the community.
Collaborative, collegial, flexible teacher; able to work both with core classroom teachers and the World Language department to adhere to similar curricular scope and sequence through the grades
Clear communicator with students, colleagues and parents/guardians
Demonstrates expertise in teaching Spanish to children in grades K-5
Demonstrates success partnering with parents to support the educational needs of their students
Strong writing, organizational, planning, and leadership skills
Possesses a growth mindset, a love of learning, and patience
Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish
Familiarity with best practices for pedagogical approaches for teaching another language
3-5 years experience teaching primary and elementary level students
Additional Qualifications we hope to find, but not required:
Advanced degrees (Master’s or Credential) in Education
