Marquette University's Five Star Child Care Program provides quality care for children in a state-of-the-art facility located on the Marquette University Campus. This fun, child-centered approach offers a safe, secure, and nurturing environment to our children.
Marquette provides competitive benefits, which also includes three weeks of paid vacation, sick time, and holiday pay. Holidays include Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, as well as the week between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day, and a week around the 4th of July. Tuition remission is also offered to you, your spouse, and dependents. You are also eligible to contribute to our retirement plan starting the month after your date of hire. After two years you will be fully vested in our retirement program where the university will contribute 8% to match the employees 5% that is contributed towards the retirement plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide quality care to children with full responsibility for the health and safety and welfare of all children within assigned group. 2. Plan daily and weekly activities that are developmentally appropriate for children within an environment that allows and encourages choice for children in selection of activity. Complete child assessments and classroom lesson plans following state requirements and Youngstar guidelines. 3. Maintain a classroom tone that is positive, non-stressed and of mutual respect for the child and co-workers. 4. Communicate with parents regarding a variety of issues. Write monthly newsletter and conduct teacher/parent conferences. 5. Complete and maintain records and paperwork such as attendance, medical forms, and accident reports. 6. Report any and all suspected cases of child abuse.. 7. Attend staff meetings and keep in-service and continuing education requirements up to date. 8. Assign duties to student staff. 9. Perform any and all related duties as required or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of one year of related experience preferred. Ability to plan and organize activities. Strong Interpersonal Skills. Ability to demonstrate commitment to providing quality child care.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Associate Degree or level 12 on the Registry preferred, or at least a level 9 and a commitment to continue schooling.
