The Masters School Modern and Classical Languages Department seeks a skilled educator to teach a range of Mandarin Chinese classes. Ideal candidates will be excited by the prospect of playing an active role in a strong department that bridges two divisions. This position is an opportunity to build a growing Mandarin program in collaboration with our Middle School Mandarin teacher and the Modern and Classical Languages Chair.
Ideal candidates will have a commitment to creating student-centered classrooms and experience teaching Mandarin Chinese to students with a range of skill levels. Additional consideration will be given to candidates who have experience in proficiency-based language learning environments and to candidates with a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion, within and outside the classroom.
Teach US Mandarin
Serve as an advisor for 8-10 students
Successfully engage and develop student’s interest and enthusiasm for the subject matter
Attend full faculty meetings, Modern and Classical Languages Department meetings, and Chinese program meetings
Participate in the life of the Upper School by attending full group activities (morning meeting, student presentations and performances and culminating events) and by participating in non-teaching responsibilities, such as study hall, advising a club or coaching

At least three years of teaching experience, preferred
Understanding of and desire to work with high school students
Familiar with and/or willing to explore student-centered pedagogical approaches
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Energy, enthusiasm and curiosity – willingness to be a fellow learner with students
Proficient in the use of technology
Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and a high degree of cultural competency
