HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER (K-8)
Falk Labatory School, a coeducational K-8 school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, seeks a full-time, dynamic Health and Physical Education teacher to work with elementary and/or middle school students, for the next academic year beginning August 2019.
Salary range is competitive and commensurate with experience. Falk Laboratory School, which is a department in the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh, offers excellent benefits.
Ideal candidates should have experience designing and implementing Health and Physical Education curriculum to elementary and/or middle school students. Candidates should have experience working with activities and skills that develop the five areas of overall fitness: muscular endurance, muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, agility, and flexibility, while maintaining a nurturing student-centered environment. At Falk School we value differentiation, so candidates should have experience adapting and individualizing lessons/activities for students with varied needs. Furthermore, candidates will be expected to help develop/organize large community-wide events so a willingness to collaborate is necessary. Candidates must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be able to develop cooperative relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Experience in coaching, and a willingness to coach various sports are a plus.
A degree in Health and Physical Education is required and a Master's degree preferred. Broad experience is advantageous, as partnering across disciplines and grade levels is valued at our school. Highly creative work experience in the field of Physical Education is an asset.
