Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (HIES) is seeking a Middle School Science Teacher to begin in the 2019-2020 school year. HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish day school in the country, offering a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade. HIES is located north of downtown Atlanta between I-75 and GA 400.
This is a full time position, beginning at or near August 1, 2019.
Skills and Abilities
The successful candidate will have the following skills and abilities:
Experience teaching Life and Earth Science and STEM classes in a Middle School setting.
Excellent organization, presentation and communication skills.
Strong classroom management skills.
Commitment to collaboration and team teaching across disciplines
Strong technology skills, familiarity with online resources, and ease with the flipped classroom concept.
Instruct five sections of Life and or Earth Science in the Middle School.
Develop lesson plans and monitor student performance.
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional activities and environment, particularly in the STEAM club activities.
Update and maintain student academic records and performance metrics in Whipple Hill software application.
Communicate regularly with parents, students and colleagues regarding student progress.
Educational and Other Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Science education.
Certification is not required for hire, but may be requested in the event of continued employment.
Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing and safety training required.
