Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a full-time Lower School Music Teacher for the 2019-20 school year. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
The music teacher will be responsible for teaching instrumental and general music to students in Kindergarten (Fifth Age) through Fourth (Tenth Age) Grades. The teacher will coordinate an annual holiday sing-a-long and will lead music groups for class plays and other school performances. The teacher will also be responsible for managing the daily affairs of a classroom including parent education and communications, teacher collaborations, and other school based duties and responsibilities. Calvert teachers are also expected to contribute to the Calvert community as coaches, club advisors, and will serve on school committees on occasion.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with prior experience teaching music to lower school age students in a school setting. A Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates must be able to read music and play piano.
