Head-Royce School is seeking a dedicated Spanish teacher to joining our 6-12 World Languages department. The teacher will be responsible for teaching selected Spanish courses in the Upper and our Middle School. We hope to find teachers who can teach throughout curriculum, up to and including our most Advanced Spanish courses (AP Language and beyond). Our K-12 Spanish program includes a focus on developing oral proficiency, reading and writing skills, and an exploration of culture and history from throughout the Spanish-speaking world. Faculty serve as advisors and participate actively in the life of the community. The School seeks applicants who have a strong academic background, experience in multicultural education, an understanding and appreciation of adolescents, and a demonstrated genuine fondness for working with students.
Demonstrated understanding of curriculum design, varied pedagogical approaches, and developmental appropriateness of instruction, as well as different styles and types of assessment
Strong collaborator, with a willingness to reach outside to partner with colleagues to design curriculum, projects, activities, and experiences
Use of technology, when appropriate, to enhance the learning experience
Continuing reflection on and enhancement of one’s own pedagogical approach or a blend of strategies
Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish Language and/or Literature or equivalent area of study
Fluent or Native Spanish speaker
Familiarity with 21st-century teaching principles
Minimum 5 years teaching experience at the High School level
