Ensworth is now accepting applications for an energetic, experienced, and community-oriented Middle School Spanish Teacher for the 2019-20 school year. This is a 10-month faculty position reporting to the Head of Middle School and World Language Department Chair.Qualified candidates will have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Prior Spanish teaching experience is required.
The primary focus of the middle-school World Language program is to develop and nurture the essential linguistic skills needed for meaningful communication in a target language. The program is also designed to cultivate an appreciation for and an understanding of other cultures, traditions, and languages. All sixth-grade students are placed in a Latin-based world language course designed to help them process and understand how language is organized, develop good language study habits, acquire new vocabulary, and apply what they learn about Latin to the study of English and other world languages. In seventh and eighth grades students elect to study one of three world languages - Chinese, Latin, or Spanish - and will cover the Level I content of the selected world language.
