BB&N is seeking a full-time Upper School Russian teacher for four to six weeks during the fall of 2019. Primary responsibilities include teaching 4 Russian classes, level 1 to level 4/4 Honors. Additional responsibilities include collaborating closely with colleagues in the World Languages Department and attending regular meetings of the World Languages Department and Upper School Faculty meetings.
The objective of the Russian program is to teach students the basics of writing, reading, speaking, and listening and bring them to proficiency by the end of the fourth year. Time will be devoted to interactive communicative tasks, from simple to intermediate. Texts, articles from the print media, Internet websites, and audio-visual materials will be used to introduce the students to the rich cultural and historic aspects of Russian.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Russian language instruction with preference for native Russian speakers. Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred and at least two years of full-time teaching experience.
In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
Ability to engage students to converse in Russian in and out of class
Excellent writing skills both in English and Russian. Please, submit samples.

Understand and exhibit high standards of professional conduct
Warmth, sense of humor, and tact
Knowledge of third language preferred
Experience and willingness to use technology in the classroom preferred
