Masters seeks a Mathematics teacher who is passionate about math as a discipline and about teaching as a craft. The candidate who is selected for this role will join a dynamic, collaborative math department and will have the opportunity to teach a range of courses, based on interest and departmental need. Ideal candidates will have a demonstrated ability to deepening students’ mathematical thinking skills through a variety of student-centered pedagogical practices, including inquiry and problem-based approaches. Ideal candidates must implement culturally responsive classroom practices that support students’ social and emotional needs. Particular attention will be paid to candidates that have the ability to teach a range of courses and ability levels.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Teach 4 Mathematics sections • Participate in the life of the Upper School by attending full group activities (morning meeting, student presentations and performances and culminating events) and by participating in non-teaching responsibilities, such as study hall, advising a club or coaching • Serve as an advisor for 8-10 students • Attend Math Department, Upper School division and full faculty meetings • Participate in the life of the school by attending full group activities including morning meeting, student presentations and performances and culminating events
SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS: • Demonstrate mathematical knowledge across grade levels and content strands • Understanding of and desire to work with high-school aged students • Proven ability to communicate with students, parents and colleagues to build community and support student learning, including excellent written and verbal communication skills • Energy, enthusiasm and curiosity – willingness to be a fellow learner with students • Commitment to effective collaboration with colleagues and a the ability to take initiative and effectively work independently • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and a high degree of cultural competency

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in mathematics, education or related fields; Masters degree preferred
