Saint Mary’s Hall seeks an outstanding Upper School Biology Teacher for a part-time position to teach two (2) to three (3) sections of Human Anatomy & Physiology, Zoology, and/or Cell Biology in both fall and spring semesters for students in grades 10-12.
Bachelor's Degree in Science or a related field, advanced degree(s) preferred
Public or independent school teaching experience
Passion for subject matter and for working with bright, motivated teenagers in a rigorous, college-preparatory environment
Ability to inspire students to think critically
Ability to conduct lab activities and assign engaging homework
Teach two (2) to three (3) sections of Human Anatomy & Physiology, Zoology, and/or Cell Biology daily (schedule to be determined)
Maintain lab equipment and supplies including classroom animals, reptiles, and fish
Maintain assignments and grades for students
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with students, parents, colleagues, staff, and administration
Support the efforts of vertical team planning and curriculum alignment
Attend all required Science Department and Divisional meetings
Participate in requested professional development activities
Attend Project CRISS training during New Teacher Orientation
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Work primarily in a traditional classroom setting
Work in a rigorous, and at times stressful, academic environment dealing with deadlines and diverse array of contracts
Must be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
Intricate motor skills required
Must be able to travel periodically throughout the academic year
Must be able to perform repetitious movement for extended periods of time, i.e. walking standing, bending, and stooping
Work intermittently in outside weather conditions
