Latin School of Chicago is seeking an Art Assistant Teacher for grades K-4 beginning in late August 2019. The Assistant Teacher program goals are to provide the art assistant teacher with an authentic teaching and learning experience under the supervision of a lead art teacher. A bachelor’s degree is required. A stipend for graduate work is included in the benefits package. The starting salary for this full-time, 3-year position is $22,000, but additional stipends are possible for other work within the school.
The art assistant teacher in the lower school will have many duties, including tasks that are specific to the art program. There will be opportunities to work one-on-one with students in the art room, and to assist in the development of some of the art projects.
With new technology entering the curricula in the 21stcentury, and with new opportunities to include technology and iPads in the art room curriculum, the assistant teacher should be familiar with Smartboard, with Keynote, with iPads and with basic technology used at the elementary school level.
