Latin School of Chicago is seeking candidates for the Music Assistant Teacher position for grades JK-4 beginning in late August 2019. The Latin School Assistant Teacher program goals are to provide the assistant teacher with an authentic teaching and learning experience under the supervision of the lead teacher. Candidates should be interested in pursuing a career in a music education related field. A bachelor’s degree in music education or a music-related field is preferred. A stipend for graduate work is included in the benefits package. The starting salary for this full-time, 3-year position is $22,000, but additional stipends are possible for other work within the school.
The role of the music assistant teacher includes opportunities to work with students in the music room, to assist in planning units and lessons, preparing class materials, researching best practices, assessing and evaluating student work, and learning about the implementation of an evolving curriculum in a blended Orff and Kodály music program.
