Villa Academy is excited to be hiring a First Grade teacher for the 2019-20 school year. We seek enthusiastic, creative, knowledgeable, flexible and child-centered teachers to join our dynamic Lower School faculty.
This teacher(s) will be responsible for the instruction of Religion, Literacy, Math, Science, Social Studies and Second Step/Social Skills (including class meetings) in a self-contained primary classroom but as part of a grade level team. Students have specialist teachers for Library, World Language, Music, PE, Art and Technology.
Education and Experience:
Valid Washington State Teacher certificate with emphasis in Early Childhood/Elementary
Successful early elementary/early childhood teaching experience
Practicing Catholic preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Familiarity or experience teaching with Literacy Centers and/or Guided Reading, My Math, Six Trait Writing, Handwriting without Tears and Foss Science
Knowledge and commitment to differentiated instruction for all students
Willingness and enthusiasm for making Villa’s outdoor spaces an integral part of the primary curriculum
Ability to use instructional technology effectively including interactive whiteboards, document cameras, Google docs, and teacher web pages
Effective oral and written communication skills
Experience creating and sustaining effective parent partnerships
Ability to collaborate and team with colleagues
Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development
Ability to perform the job responsibilities of this position
