Manzanita School is now hiring an Upper Elementary/High School math teacher for our 4th-12th grade school. Seeking dedicated, hardworking, articulate, passionate, collaborative and visionary teachers to join our remarkable team. Candidates should have experience and ability to teach up to Calculus and comfort in teaching lower levels of math as well. We are seeking someone who may step into leadership surrounding the overall vision of the math department based on their experience and intuition.
Manzanita is a fully-accredited private school serving 100 students in a program that combines an interdisciplinary academic curriculum with a strong nature-connection outdoor program. We are in the middle of our fifth year of operation. Each week, students spend three days in the classroom, and two days on the 21-acre chaparral land of the campus.

Qualified candidates will ideally have:
3-5 years classroom teaching experience in math instruction (other youth work experience can apply)
Teaching credential a plus but not mandatory
Willing to make 3-5 year commitment
Strongly connected to Manzanita's vision
Interdisciplinary approach to teaching
Strong curriculum writing skills
Proven ability to work in multi-age grade setting
A personal connection to the natural world
Fitness and comfort being in the outdoors
Proven ability to mentor youth

Some grounding in physical/cultural Anthropology and familiarity with local flora and fauna a plus

About Manzanita School and Institute
Manzanita School and Institute, founded in 2013, is an independent, non-profit, co-educational day school, with an enrollment of 97 students in graded 4 through 12. We are located on 21 acres in the rugged and bio-diverse Topanga Canyon, northwest of Los Angeles. Currently in our 5th year, with a program emphasizing human ecology and land stewardship, we received accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in 2017.
