Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences seeks a dynamic science educator to join its innovative upper school Science Department beginning in the 2019-20 school year. The Science Department offers a variety of science courses that reflect the varied interests of the students and the ever-advancing topics in the field of science. Science faculty work collaboratively to develop curriculum, drawing on various resources and deliver lessons that are relevant and focus on practical experiences that students can apply. Students participate in project-based learning and non-traditional, alternative assessment strategies are used.
Crossroads Science Department is looking part-time biology teacher with the following skills and qualifications:
Minimum BA or BS in Biology with a strong knowledge and focus on chemistry required (graduate degree preferred).
Experience teaching biology and environmental sciences with associated ecological field experiences.
Deep knowledge of current teaching trends and technology in the fields of science.
Be able to convey the joy of learning science.
Experience planning student-centered, innovative lessons in course-aligned teams and leading students in inquiry-based experimentation in a cutting-edge research, student-centered laboratory facility.
Value interdisciplinary thinking and can expertly guide students as they develop a deeper understanding of our interconnected world through the study of science.
