The Baldwin School of P.R. is the premier independent, PPK-12, college preparatory, English language day school in Puerto Rico. It is also the first school authorized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP), and Diploma Program (DP) in the island’s history.
The Middle School English Teacher will serve as a faculty member for a full twelve-month period. Teachers must be on duty at the school on all designated school days, orientations days and teacher workdays.
Must be committed to continuous professional growth and development as a professional educator. Must provide an official college transcript and Teacher Certificate.
Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Education, or English-related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
Must have at least 3 years experience teaching English classes to Middle School students ranging in grades 6th through 10th.
Strive to improve the quality of instruction, to improve professional standards in the areas of human relations and communication skills.
Develop long and short-range plans for classroom instruction.
Provide a class syllabus for each preparation, to include expected outcomes for the use of students, parents and supervisors.
Develop and/or implement student assessment methods that will consistently and continuously provide a basis for evaluating student performance and achievement and which abide by the grading procedures published in the student handbook.
Direct and coordinate a learning environment that focuses on the sensitivity to the emotional needs of individuals and respect for the integrity, capabilities, and personality of each individual.
Must possess complete fluency in English, fluency in Spanish is not required but preferred.
Must possess a demonstrated enthusiasm about teaching students of different cultures and levels who possess a range of abilities and learning styles in both middle and upper schools.
Ability to work in groups/ team teaching.
The position requires energy, creativity, organization, and a strong commitment to a lively community of students and educators.
Interest in and agreeable to sponsoring an after-school activity.
Possess a demonstrated commitment to the School's Mission, Vision, Pedagogy, professional development goals and overall educational goals.
Regular and effective communications with parents concerning student progress, reports, homework, class activities, school-wide information, etc. through different means including the School's Online Parent/Teacher Portal.
Demonstrated professionalism through timeliness, attendance, proper attire, language, demeanor, intra-school communications, etc.
Teachers must be available for individual student instruction, parent conferences, participate in school sponsored activities and attend regularly scheduled faculty meetings.
Comply with all policies as stated in the employment handbook.
