Lake Highland is seeking a qualified and motivated teacher to join an engaged and forward thinking Science department. The ideal candidate should be willing and able to teach all levels of Physics from Introductory courses through AP level courses (though actual teaching duties will not encompass all levels.). Our teachers throw themselves into the life of the school, often attending athletic or arts events; they contribute to department and whole school discussions; and they demonstrate love of lifelong learning, along with a desire to try new approaches in the classroom for the good of our students.

Plan and carry out engaging, student centered classes.

Assess students’ growth and progress, using a variety of measurements including competency based grading.
Communicate with parents as needed, including them in partnership with the teacher’s efforts.
Promptly attend to administrative requirements such as attendance, grade reporting and participation in faculty meetings and trainings.
May need to work occasional weekend hours when requested to do so by supervisor.
Teachers must be proficient in common technology systems and be competent in school technology systems such as email, mapping programs, grade book programs, and office productivity and presentation software, including word processing, spreadsheet, file management, PowerPoint and Excel.
Teachers will become proficient in standard LHPS classroom technology, including interactive board, document camera, sound enhancement, student response pads (response systems), laptops and mobile cart systems.
Candidates must have a four year college degree in the field in which they will be teaching (Physics or closely related field.). The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree and some Education coursework completed. Should have a minimum of 3 years classroom teaching experience. Must be committed to gaining State of Florida educator’s certification.
