Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator of Residential Life
Founded in 1978 in Putney, VT, Greenwood School is the premier school for young men, grades 6 through 12, who have learning, attention and executive function challenges. The Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator of Residential Life will be the lead individuals in overseeing, supporting and creating a dynamic, kind and exciting residential dorm environment for our students. The dorm is the primary residence for our students who range in age from 13 – 18. The coordinator and assistant coordinator will be supported by two additional dorm parents and faculty; together this team of adults will be responsible for the residential life experience as well as for the physical, social and emotional well- being of our boarding students.
The Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator will reside in the dormitory, campus housing, and be on duty, Sunday through Thursday from 1:00 p.m. -11:00 p.m.
Provide a safe and engaging residential environment for all students – grades 6-12 • Manage all aspects of the residential boarding program • Supervise and evaluate members of the residential life staff • Training all individuals who will be responsible for the residential program • Manage the interface between the academic, afternoon, weekend and residential life programs • • Communicating with the Assistant Head of School and Assistant Dean of Students on any behavioral or disciplinary issues that arise in the dorm • Maintain positive relationships with Maintenance, Housekeeping, Dining Room, Counseling and Nurses • Be an effective communicator • Work with admissions, and the ADOS to create positive roommate pairings • Work in collaboration with the athletic/afternoon coordinator to provide outstanding afternoon programming • Work with the AHOS to create a pre-school leadership training workshop for all student leaders • Be responsible for the safety and well-being of all dorm residents • Working alongside the AHOS execute emergency based drills when necessary • Be involved in all aspects of school life
Assistant Coordinator Responsibilities
Support the Coordinator of Residential Life on all aspects of the residential boarding program
Work in conjunction with the CoRL to provide a safe, healthy and positive residential experience
Maintain positive relationships with Maintenance, Housekeeping, Dining Room, Counseling and Nurses
Be an effective communication Work in collaboration with the athletic/afternoon coordinator to provide outstanding afternoon programming • Work with the AHOS to create a pre-school leadership training workshop for all student leaders • • Be responsible for the safety and well-being of all dorm residents • Be involved in all aspects of school life
• Attend all school wide events
Keep the Head of School informed regarding student issues and campus life Perform additional duties as assigned by and in support of the Assistant Head and Head of School
A bachelor’s degree
Leadership experience in residential settings. i.e. college resident advisor, summer camps or other residential settings An individual who has taught and interacted with students with diagnosed learning disabilities - preferred • Superior executive skills and the ability to work with a high level of consistency and integrity • Highly-developed communication skills, both verbal and written • A strong collaborator with school professionals • A sense of humor and optimism along with an unbridled faith in students’ ability to learn and grow

The Greenwood School, located in Putney, VT, and founded in 1978, is a boarding and day school for middle and high school boys who have been diagnosed with: dyslexia; specific language-based learning disabilities / learning differences (LD); receptive language and/or expressive language deficits; executive functioning deficits; attentional difficulties (ADD or ADHD); disorders of written expression; dysgraphia; or speech and language needs.
