St. Philip and St Augustine Catholic Academy, a PK3-8, Title I, diocesan school located in Southeast Dallas, TX, announces its search for an effective and enthusiastic administrator to serve as its next principal. The successful candidate will embrace the Academy’s mission, be committed to academic excellence in a strong Catholic environment, be able to implement successful strategies for student and faculty recruitment and retention, be a responsible steward of the Academy’s finances, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate successful leadership in an educational setting. This position will become effective July 1, 2019.
As part of his blueprint for excellence in Catholic schools, Cardinal Kevin J. Farrell announced in 2014 the combining of two parish schools, each with its own 50-year history of rich traditions, to form a new academy-model school serving elementary and middle school students in Pleasant Grove. The following year, the new St. Philip and St. Augustine Catholic Academy opened its doors in newly renovated and expanded facilities as the first academy-model, elementary school in the Catholic Diocese of Dallas. The Academy follows curriculum standards set by the Diocese, provides a number of resources for students such as Starfall, Khan Academy, Google Classroom, and Common Sense Media, and offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities. To meet the needs of the Academy’s growing enrollment, a second phrase of construction was completed in August 2018, which included five additional Classrooms.
As a diocesan school under the auspices of the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, the Academy falls directly under the administration of the Superintendent. The Principal, who works directly with the Academy’s Board of Directors, leads by example and both oversees and coordinates all academic aspects of the Academy, including management and formation of teachers and staff members, development of curriculum, student recruitment and retention activities, management of student interventions, program design, student discipline, and coordination of growth and spiritual guidance of all members of the School.
