Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (HIES) is seeking an Upper School Learning Resource Teacher. HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish day school in the country, offering a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade. The school is located north of downtown Atlanta between I-75 and GA 400.
The Upper School Learning Resource Teacher is primarily responsible for providing curriculum and study skills support for students with learning differences in the Upper School. The ideal candidate will have a warm, engaging demeanor and the ability to connect with adolescents in both a small group and one-on-one setting. He or she must possess strong organizational skills and be adept at using technology to support student learning.
Expectations and Responsibilities • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds and learning styles. • Work with students who are struggling academically and offer specific plans for student improvement. • Maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s code of conduct. • Provide an engaging and positive learning environment that encourages student success. • Communicate with faculty consistently in order to support students in core academic content areas. • Communicate regularly with parents, students, and deans regarding student concerns and progress. • Participate in professional development to stay current on best practices for teaching students with learning differences. • Teach 1-2 sections of 9th grade Bridge for new 9th grade students. • Meet with 11th and 12th grade students by appointment. • Assist with test proctoring and facilitation of school-based standardized tests.
Educational and Other Requirements • Master’s degree in Education or Learning Disabilities preferred. • Minimum of two years in related field. • Private school experience preferred. • Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing, and safety training required.
