Department: IU Bloomington Campus Child Care Support
Preschool Teachers work collaboratively with a co-teacher and are responsible for the care and education of children ages 3- 5years. Teachers are responsible for creating a warm and nurturing relationship with each child, designing an environment that stimulates curiosity, and utilizing a dynamic child-centered curriculum that is grounded in hands-on exploration and play. Using observation and assessment tools, the Preschool Teacher documents each child’s growth and learning in relation to his or her development and the Indiana Early Learning Foundations.
Must be at least 21 years of age (state regulation). Formal education in early childhood education and center-based experience work with children ages 6 weeks through 2 years of age required. Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development or related field preferred.
