George Walton Academy seeks an experienced Advanced Placement Biology Teacher for the 2019- 2020 school year.
George Walton Academy (GWA) is an independent, coeducational college-preparatory school serving students from pre-Kindergarten through twelfth grade. GWA is located in Monroe, Georgia, which is 50 minutes east of Atlanta and 25 minutes west of Athens. Established in 1969, GWA sits on 60 landscaped, wooded acres. Ideal candidates will demonstrate proficiency in AP biology instruction, as well as the ability to create a learning environment that both challenges and inspires students.

Design and deliver engaging classroom lessons that enable students to master material, while also preparing them for advanced placement testing.
Provide lab-based and inquiry-driven activities to enhance student learning.
Utilize differentiated instruction and a variety of pedagogical approaches to maximize each student’s learning potential.
Collaborate with fellow faculty in cross-curricular projects.
Serve as an advisor in the student advisory program.
Actively participate in the GWA community and culture.
Bachelor’s degree in Biology from an accredited college or university, masters preferred
Curriculum development experience preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Current knowledge of best practices in lab work
