The Bishop’s School seeks a full-time upper school chemistry teacher beginning August 2019. The ideal candidate will have a background in teaching various levels of chemistry, with the ability to teach electives or courses in other departmental areas as needed. The department seeks candidates excited about student-centered learning, interdisciplinary and integrated curriculum, as well as inquiry-based, lab-focused science education. In addition to teaching, faculty responsibilities include serving as an advisor to students and extended-day office hours for additional student support.
A bachelor’s degree (B.A.) is required and a B.A. or M.A. in chemistry is preferred; a minimum of three years teaching experience is also expected. The science department works as a highly collaborative team and applicants should be enthusiastic about working with other faculty to improve the existing curriculum. Top candidates will have a strong background in teaching a lab-based curriculum.
