Cardinal Newman School is a coeducational institution providing a well-rounded education in a college preparatory environment for 580 students in grades seven through twelve. Originally founded in 1858 by the Ursuline sisters, Cardinal Newman opened on the parish grounds of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Columbia as both Ursuline and Catholic High Schools respectively until moving to Forest Drive in 1961, where it remained until December 2015. In January 2016, Cardinal Newman relocated to its state-of-the-art, 50-acre campus in the northeast suburbs of Columbia.
With its storied history, robust student-centered academic programs, passionate and supportive constituencies, and its brand new 21st century campus, Cardinal Newman School is well positioned for its promising future. Built to accommodate 700-750 students, this incredible campus has plenty of room to grow. In doing so, the next principal will be expected to bring the energy, charisma and executive administration skills necessary for this school community to build on its considerable strengths while delivering it’s Christ-centered Catholic education.
The candidates we seek will be experienced in leading academically rigorous curriculums, while being comfortable with and capable of addressing the challenges facing most Catholic schools, specifically in mission-critical areas related to business, finance, enrollment management and advancement initiatives. The next Principal must have demonstrated proficiency in building and maintaining community relationships that will ensure Cardinal Newman School’s continued accessibility, success, and sustainability through the effective stewardship of its parish, parent, alumni, and philanthropic constituencies.
