The Position Upper School Spanish teacher is responsible for teaching a variety of courses in Spanish language and culture to students in grades 9-12. A successful teacher in this role will be knowledgeable, passionate, student-centered, and growth-oriented. Upper School Spanish teachers at EA enjoy collaborating with students and colleagues to advance linguistic and communication skills, cultural competence, and curiosity about the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures. About You The Upper School Upper School Spanish Teacher:
Utilizes a diverse range of teaching practices for language acquisition to target a wide range of learners.
Teaches in target language primarily or exclusively, leading students through multiple activities within each individual lesson.
Consistently explains Spanish linguistic structures in a manner that students understand.
Shares engaging, relevant knowledge of Hispanic cultures with students.
Thoughtfully balances the delivery of a sequenced curriculum with more extemporaneous, inquiry-based communication in the classroom.
Uses technology (including online textbooks and a learning management system) to organize and enhance student learning.
Communicates clearly and works in an organizational manner, both with students and a dynamic team of World Language teachers.
Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree and a strong academic background.
Candidates with school-based experience teaching Spanish language and culture in grades 9-12 will be viewed favorably.
