POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Alternative Education Administrator/Principal
Job Summary: The Alternative Education Administrator/Principal shall be under the direct supervision of the District Superintendent or designee, and will adhere to applicable state laws, rules and regulation of the state, county and district Governing Board. The Alternative Education Administrator/Principal will maintain rational administrative behavior in all job relevant situations, develop and cooperative and positive relationship with all employees and work to achieve the goals of the school system.
The schools in which the Alternative Educations Administrator/Principal will supervise fall under the Woodlake Educational Options Program. Those schools are: Bravo Lake Continuation High School ((10-12); Woodlake Community Day School (7-12); Woodlake Independent Study (9-12); Woodlake Adult School.
Character, personality, and proper social capability to relate effectively with racially and ethnically diverse staff, students, and community; Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of community groups and organizations. Demonstrate qualities of leadership, ability to speak and write effectively, broad knowledge and skill curriculum development and education planning.
As assessed by the Superintendent or designee, the outcomes of the Woodlake Alternative Education Administrator/Principal's job performance will be as follows:
Assume responsibility for the direction, coordination, guidance and assessment of the instructional program.
Assist staff in review, evaluation and refinement of methods for meeting individual differences.
Assist in the selection, assignment and evaluation of new personnel.
Provide for effective utilization and evaluation of certificated, classified personnel, and auxiliary personnel.
Assume responsibility for the effective implementation of the pupil personnel program.
Provide counseling and guidance program based on individual needs for all students.
Promote cooperation between Woodlake High School and the Alternative Education High Schools in procedures for orderly screening and referral students.
Supervise student conduct and administer proper discipline when needed.
Provide for the effective resolution of pupil-teacher-parent school related concerns.
Provide for positive community relations as they relate to the Alternative Programs.
Promote professional growth and development with the faculty.
Provide leadership in in-service training of the staff.
Facilitate instruction and curriculum objectives.
Provide information and direction regarding new developments and trends in the educational field.
Oversee the implementation of the regular and supplemental instructional programs within the school.
Direct and assist in the selection and use of curriculum materials.
Communicate and interpret policies, programs, and activities to the staff, student and parents.
Provide a varied program of student activities, designed to foster increased involvement in the school program.
Work toward the development of positive student attitudes.
Provide for pupil assessment procedures and interpretation of resulting data.
Keep records, reports, accounts, and other obligations mandated by law and Board policy.
Administer the school’s budget efficiently and effectively.
Participate in community activities.
Involve parents in school programs and activities.
Promote the understanding throughout the community of the aims and objectives of the Alternative Schools programs.
Keep abreast of current trends in education.
Work in cooperation with Superintendent or designee to advance Adult School courses in Woodlake through the Sequoias Adult Education consortium.
Supervise the School attendance Review Board Coordinator and assist in raising school District attendance rate.
Serve as the overseer of the Administrative Panel process which functions in expulsions of students in Woodlake Unified School District.
Attend Board meetings on a regular basis and make presentations to the Board.
Serve as a member of the Management Team, keep informed and help to formulate all district policy.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities;
Attends and supervises co-curricular and extracurricular activities of the student body.

Woodlake Unified School District (Grades: TK-12) is located in Woodlake, California. Our district has approximately 2300 students. Our school district serves the communities of Woodlake, Three Rivers, Seville and the surrounding areas. These communities have a rich history and a fantastic community spirit.
