The Assistant Teacher positions are for candidates eager to participate in and learn through the development of a new academic program. Assistant teachers help create and support classroom learning and school culture. Bennett Day School is looking for educators new to the profession who are deeply invested in a collaborative work environment where they will assist the lead teachers to create a cohesive and authentic learning place for all students. Assistant Teachers should understand that teaching is dynamic and will work in tandem with the lead teachers to adapt and integrate this belief in the daily work in the classroom and school community.
Experience in early childhood or elementary classrooms
Collaborative mindset; adept at working with teams and open to new ideas
Direct classroom work with children ages 3 – 8 years old
Work collaboratively with lead teacher in all aspects of classroom life
Support and model positive discipline
Recess and Family-style Lunch supervision
Attend specials classes
Prepare curriculum materials/documents
Collaborative role in learning and supporting technology and material integration
Individual student and group work documentation
Written Weekly Updates
Record student observations
General classroom organization and clean-up
Participation in family/community evening/weekend events: Curriculum Night, Family Association Meeting and 2 of the following required; Parent Panel, Open House, New Family Play Date or other additional Admissions/Marketing outreach events.
Responsibilities are not all-inclusive and will include other duties as assigned
Hours: 7:45-3:45 M-F
(earlier release for Assistant teachers participating in the AfterCare program)
