Intermediate Co-Lead Teacher positions are for an education professional eager to participate in the development of a growing Reggio-Emilia inspired academic program and help create and support a unique school culture. Bennett Day School teachers understand that the craft of teaching is dynamic; they adapt to and integrate this belief in his or her daily work in the classroom and school community. The Intermediate Co-Lead Teacher will work in collaboration with other teaching teams, specialist teachers, learning resources and the Principal to integrate rich, developmentally appropriate programming in the classroom. The Intermediate Co-Lead Teacher position follows a two-year loop.
3+ years experience as an intermediate grade lead, co-teacher or special-ed teacher
Experience in progressive education preferred
Experience/professional development in/with special education
Program and curriculum development experience; inquiry-based and/or project-based learning preferred
Collaborative mindset; adept at working with teams and open to new ideas
Deep engagement in pedagogical trends, research, and best practices
Experience with technology as a tool for teaching and learning
Education Background: a Bachelor’s degree and Special Education experience is required; Master’s degree in education preferred
Grade-level curriculum development
Individual student documentation and evaluation
Family communication: home visits, four conferences, family open house, weekly newsletters/blogging
Mentoring, collaboration and communication with Co-Lead Teacher
Professional Development: Monday afternoon faculty meetings and Wednesday afternoon, ongoing professional development in and out of school
Collaboration and leadership in Google Chromebook Pilot Project
Collaboration, communication, and integration with Specialist teachers (Art, Music, TESLab, Spanish, Movement Literacy)
Participation in self-evaluation and reflection process; individual and team meetings with the Principal
Professional Development: Monday afternoon faculty meetings and Wednesday afternoon, ongoing professional development in and out of school, beginning and end of year PD
Participation in family/community evening/weekend events: Curriculum Night, Family Association Meeting and 2 of the following required; Parent Panel, Open House, New Family Play Date or other additional Admissions/Marketing outreach events.
Participation in Morning arrival or dismissal duties as assigned
Hours: 7:30a-4:00p T/TH/F; 7:30a-5:00p M/W (Faculty meetings and Professional Development)
Responsibilities are not all-inclusive and will include other duties as assigned
