The High School Alternative Education Principal is responsible for the leadership, administration and outcome of all aspects of the educational programs at Venture Independent Study and Del Amigo Continuation Schools. The District seeks a principal who can provide visionary, creative leadership and develop new programs that are responsive to ever-changing student needs. Under the general supervision and direction of the Executive Director of Secondary Education, provides leadership and an accountability system consistent with the District’s philosophy regarding alternative education. The principal must possess a clear understanding of the needs of high school students and must translate that understanding into a well-organized and successful program for high school students enrolled in the alternative program. The principal must be able to relate to students ages kindergarten through high school and adults and possess good communication skills in many varied contexts that exist in an alternative education school. Knowledge of independent study is desirable as well as clear thought out vision of leadership in an independent study alternative setting. Our mission is to provide an alternative learning opportunity for students where they can develop their academic, social, and career potential. Essential qualifications include knowledge of independent study and secondary curriculum, as well as strong communication skills and sensitivity to individual student needs.
