The Walker School is a nonsectarian, co-educational independent day school serving three year olds through twelfth grade in Marietta, Georgia. The school was founded in 1957 and currently enrolls approximately 900 students. Walker seeks an energetic and dedicated individual for a part-time teaching position in Spanish beginning with the 2019-2020 school year. The ideal candidate has experience teaching across multiple levels and can deliver instruction featuring extensive input in a comprehensible manner while maintaining a low-anxiety environment.
The teaching load is three sections, and total student contact may range from 40 to 60. Walker’s Upper School operates on a rotating schedule, which means that the time each course meets varies on a regular rotation.
The Walker World Language curriculum is based on the ACTFL Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century and the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. By incorporating ACTFL's three modes of communication (interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational), the World Language Department enables students to advance along the continuum of proficiency.
Classroom teaching experience and a Master’s degree or advanced course work is preferred.
