This full-time position would fulfill all responsibilities of a class teacher, according to the professional expectations of the school. A successful candidate will teach a curriculum that introduces artistic methods to young students and encourages confidence in self-expression through art-making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
Teaching a variety of media including but not limited to: drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and ceramics
Responsible for developing, planning, and implementing classroom and grade level curriculum
Maintaining a working studio, including ordering of art supplies
Fulfill expectations for report writing and assessment of student work and progress
Utilize formal and informal assessments as well as knowledge of child development to identify teaching strategies and learning activities
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of teaching practices and a commitment to teaching within a caring, highly academic environment
Cultivate effective professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
Attend all relevant meetings and events
Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Assistant Head of Academics and Head of School
Reports to the Assistant Head of Academics
Education and Experience:
BFA in Studio Art required
Advanced degree, strong studio art credentials, high level of artistic proficiency, and at least three years of experience are preferred.
Experience in teaching art to students from ages 3 to 10
Demonstrated success in collaborative environments
