The Elisabeth Morrow School, an independent threes-through-eighth-grade school seeks an innovative and experienced lower school teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. The appointed candidate will join a faculty dedicated to creating a rigorous and comprehensive program which combines imagination, collaboration and critical thinking with a focus on cooperation, consideration, compassion, and courtesy to serve the whole child. The homeroom teacher is responsible for instruction in language arts, math, and social studies. In addition, the teacher is responsible for following the tenants of Responsive Classroom, to create a safe and caring learning environment compatible with the school's philosophy, and differentiating instruction to meet student needs.
Experience in teaching in a dynamic elementary school environment
Fluency in reading instruction and assessment
Experience in developing a balanced approach to math instruction to develop computational skills, procedures, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving strategies. Experience in Math In Focus a plus.
Responsive Classroom Training preferred
An interest in constructive learning environments with value on tinkering, inquiry, creation, play, and reflection
