The position of Middle School Language Arts teacher and student advisor is tasked with implementing a hands-on, project-based Language Arts program that focuses on 21st-century pedagogy. This position will include teaching Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading comprehension and the forms of written expression. We firmly believe at Walden that the most important duty of this position is developing the love of reading, writing and thinking in students. Walden’s Language Arts department deeply cares about fostering inquiry-based and hands-on classroom experiences, collaborations between colleagues, and student mentorship.
As a teacher and advisor, this position will also be tasked with facilitating advisory lessons that are based in a social/emotional curriculum. Candidates should feel mentoring students is equally as important as teaching content. Ideal teaching candidates will have a master’s degree in education or related field, two years experience teaching in a classroom setting and willingness to participate in extracurricular activities.
