The Covenant School is seeking a dedicated and well-read individual to teach literature and writing at the high school level. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in and commitment to the liberal arts and sciences with the ability to integrate various disciplines within a Christian worldview.
A strong background in the study of classical, medieval, and modern texts is essential, and experience leading Socratic discussions a plus. The position will also require the effective integration of writing instruction with the study of literature. The candidate should be competent to teach the elements of style and effective argumentation while helping students strengthen their grasp of English grammar and effective vocabulary use. Most importantly, the candidate should be passionate about working with adolescents, able to connect with them, and committed to their formation as individuals on the cusp of adulthood. Given Covenant’s mission, this commitment to formation requires a person who can share their Christian faith authentically in the context of their teaching.
