The Green Vale School is a co-educational, independent day school (PN-8) located on a beautiful 40-acre campus on the North Shore of Long Island. Approximately 25 miles from New York City, Green Vale has served families in surrounding suburban communities for nearly 100 years. The Green Vale School has an opening for an Upper School English Teacher beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. Key responsibilities for this position include:
Teaching all aspects of literature, writing, vocabulary, and grammar to middle school students in grades 6-8;
Amending and developing the curriculum as appropriate;
Developing students to be critical writers and thinkers;
A commitment to professional growth through collaboration with colleagues and attending workshops and conferences; and
Serving as an advisor and/or coach.
Undergraduate and Master’s Degrees (preferred) in the content area and/or education; and
Teaching experience in English, preferably at the middle school level.
An enthusiasm for teaching middle school students and an understanding of the needs of adolescents as learners
The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students and parents about student learning and growth.
