St. Edmund’s Academy seeks a dedicated and dynamic educator to teach 6th - 8th grade English in the fall trimester. The teacher will also serve as a grade-level homeroom teacher and advise a small group of students.
The teacher will be responsible for implementing the English and writing program. The teacher will collaborate with another middle school English teacher to support a program that fosters a love of reading and introduces students to a variety of genres, themes, and cross-cultural perspectives. The teacher will build students’ foundation in grammar and vocabulary and expand students’ repertoire in written and oral expression. The teacher will work closely with the Academic Dean to ensure alignment of the school’s philosophy in curriculum and practices.
Candidates must possess enthusiasm for 21st century pedagogy, be open to change and new ideas, and have an outstanding record teaching middle school aged groups. Excellent writing skills and strong verbal communication are expected. Ability to be positive, collaborative, detail-oriented, and innovative is essential. Candidates must have the capacity to teach extended periods in a rotating block schedule.
Educators dedicated to meeting the academic, social, emotional and personal needs of children should apply. A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
