Greens Farms Academy seeks an Upper School Life Science teacher to begin in August 2019. Coursework will likely include Biology (AP and non-AP levels); the ability to teach other science courses is a plus. GFA faculty are typically involved outside the classroom in a variety of ways, including advising, chaperoning trips and events, leading extracurricular clubs, and/or coaching. There may also be opportunities to advise students engaged in independent science research projects. The teacher will join a collegial Upper School faculty and PreK-12 science department that places significant emphasis on place-based and hands-on learning, design thinking, STEAM, and sustainability; the school sits at the junction of three ecosystems, all of which serve as outdoor classrooms. Please consult the school’s website for more information about the PreK-12 Sustainability signature program, as well as the Upper School capstone concentration in Human Ecology and Sustainability.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of teaching experience, an advanced degree in biology or a related field, and a passion for working with Upper School students. For all positions, we look for candidates who enjoy working with colleagues in a collaborative environment, who are flexible and creative, who will fully engage in the life of the school, and who are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable community.
