The Louise S. McGehee School now accepting applications for a dynamic, innovative choral and general music educator for upper elementary and middle school who enthusiastically invests his or herself in all aspects of the music education process and the school-wide community. Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Voice Performance, or other field of music. Classroom teaching experience and piano skills preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain memberships in NAFME and ACDA and support students in All State and District Choir audition preparations and the rehearsal process.
Teach with an exceptional understanding of the child voice.
Create dynamic sequential lesson plans to meet the needs of the students.
Develop and Implement cross-curricular grade level performances that enhance the general music curriculum.
Plan and execute all concerts and performances in conjunction with other members of the department.
Be flexible and innovative planning rehearsals to fit within the school schedule and minimally disrupt other classes.
Continually reflect on teaching and student engagement to develop and design curriculum over time.
Be an active member of the LS and MS faculty in planning assemblies and other cross-curricular events.
Seek out professional development opportunities in Orff-Schülwerk, Kodály, and Choral education as well as any others that will develop passion for teaching and learning.
Clearly and effectively communicate with faculty, students, and parents.
