Summary: Pacific Ridge School seeks candidates for the position of Teacher of Digital Media Arts. This appointment will be effective August 8, 2019. In support of Pacific Ridge’s mission, teachers are expected to teach, advise, supervise, care about the students, work in partnership with parents, advocate and promote the School, work collegially with administrators and fellow faculty, and grow professionally. The role of teacher at Pacific Ridge School is a pivotal, dynamic position on campus. A full-time teaching position includes teaching three or four sections along with community responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: • Plan for and teach curriculum relevant to teaching load • Collaborate with co-teachers and grade level team members • Communicate with students and parents in a timely and professional manner • Participate in school events (including but not limited to, Back to School Night and Parent Conferences), field trips, global travel, chaperone duties, and faculty meetings • Provide leadership in service learning, clubs, and/or advisory as assigned • Support the PRS Mission • Other duties as assigned in partnership with the Dean of Faculty or Division Heads
Qualifications and Education Requirements (including licenses or certifications) • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred • At least three years teaching experience preferred, ideally at the secondary school level
Preferred Skills • Experience with and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching • Experience with and commitment to interdisciplinary learning and teaching • Teach high school level Digital Filmmaking 1, Digital Filmmaking 2, and one section of Introduction to Graphic Design • Collaborate with visual and digital media arts teachers to design instruction and implement the curriculum • Collaborate with visual and performing arts teachers and students to prepare two annual digital media arts shows on campus and encourage filmmaking and graphic design students to submit work to regional film and graphic design shows. • Experience in teaching digital film, editing, and visual communication skills, including brainstorming, storyboarding, writing scripts, shooting footage with HD cameras, lighting and sound production • Experience in teaching graphic design, visual communication skills, web page design, and Design Thinking • Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud suite of applications, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and After Effects • Demonstrate a strong understanding of how to integrate the elements and principles of art into a digital media arts environment. Effectively guide students through the ways that artists use the elements and principles of art to create an effect and convey the artist's intent • Assist with maintaining and ensure that students care for filmmaking equipment, Mac lab, printers, and graphic design hardware • Familiarity with 3D rendering software such as Tinkercad, Fusion360, Maya, Blender or equivalent a plus • Video production or broadcasting experience a plus • Studio art, printmaking, 3D-printing, or laser cutting experience a plus
