Chaminade College Preparatory seeks a dynamic, innovative, and engaging STEM - ENGINEERING AND CODING TEACHER with great classroom management skills for our high school campus in West Hills, California. Teaching is scheduled to begin in fall 2019 but the successful candidate will begin working in spring and summer to expand course offerings for fall and engage in the UC A-G approval process for new courses.
Chaminade has a strong history of math and science education, with the majority of its students taking four years of math and science. The new Engineering and Coding courses are intended to complement this curricular foundation, as well as our impressive FRC Team which consistently qualifies for the World Championships. A new Innovation Lab for Engineering will be constructed in summer 2019 and will be well-equipped with multiple 3D printers, design computers with 3D design and modeling software, circuit testing boards and Arduino kits. The lab will complement our existing Computer Coding and Robotics lab.
An ideal candidate will have experience teaching high school students and using lab equipment, and will be instrumental in the final build-out and equipping of the lab space.
Faculty at Chaminade enjoy a good deal of autonomy in their teaching strategies as well as very well-developed support structures to employ advanced technology to enhance learning in a 1:1 learning environment. The department is supported by a team of instructional leaders, educational technology specialists, and very knowledgeable administrators. An ideal candidate will understand how to marry explicit instruction without interfering with the autonomous process that benefits design thinking and creativity.

Salary and Benefits
This is a full-time salaried exempt form overtime position. The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience. Minimum Education and Experience Preferred
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related discipline is required. Degree in Engineering, Design or Education is preferred. A master's degree and/or teaching credential in the subject discipline is preferred. Prior teaching experience in a Catholic educational setting is strongly preferred.
Prior experience teaching Robotics, Engineering, and/or Coding is required.
