The Buckley School, the oldest co-educational K-12 school in Los Angeles, has an opening for a full-time Upper School Science Teacher to teach our Physics and Engineering courses beginning in the fall of 2019. This teacher will be responsible for all aspects of the courses to which they are assigned. This individual will also be responsible for an advisory of 6-8 students and is expected to be a collaborative and engaged community member at Buckley enthusiastically participating in the science department and among the greater faculty and staff. Such participation will include, eagerly finding ways to collaborate with one’s peers and engaging in professional development.
Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field
Previous experience teaching Physics and preparing students for the SAT Subject test in Physics
Demonstrated competency in diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice
Proficiency in using technology in instruction
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Proven ability to collaborate with one's peers in curriculum development
A profound respect for children and adolescents.
Preferred candidates will have
A master’s degree or Doctorate in Science or a related field.
Demonstrated leadership in diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice.
Expertise in using technology and laboratory activities to link students to science
Experience with FIRST and VEX robotics
