SAINT MARK’S HIGH SCHOOL, Wilmington, DE, seeks qualified applicants for the position of PRINCIPAL beginning July 1, 2019. The school, serving more than 500 students, is a coed, college preparatory school which “inspires young men and women to create a better world, one more pleasing to God and more helpful to others, by modeling faith, excellence, humility and integrity.”
Saint Mark’s High School, with a faculty and staff of more than 45 educators, is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith is exemplified through multiple service opportunities. A strong academic program, including 18 Advanced Placement courses, college partnerships, the Neumann Scholars Program, and the EMMAUS Program for students with diagnosed learning issues, results in SAT scores exceeding state and national norms and a 100% acceptance rate for those applying to colleges and universities. In addition to the strong curricular offerings, the school offers 25 athletic teams that compete on the freshman, junior varsity and varsity levels and more than 30 clubs engaging students in co- and extra-curricular activities. The next Principal of Saint Mark’s High School will build upon the firm foundation in faith formation and academic achievement set by its outgoing leader. The new Principal must lead by personal witness to the Catholic faith and articulate the mission of Saint Mark’s High School to students, parents, faculty, and community. Leadership skills in Admissions, Development, Enrollment Management, Finances, and Marketing are critical to the success of the school and its Principal.
The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:
live as a practicing Catholic
have a minimum of five years teaching experience at the secondary level, with at least three years in Catholic school (administrative experience preferred)
hold an advanced degree (M.A., M.S., M.Ed., Ed.D., Ph.D.) in Education or Administration from an accredited institution
hold or be eligible for Delaware licensing/certification
