St. Matthew’s Parish School is seeking an experienced Middle School (Grades 6-8) English teacher for the 2019-20 school year. Candidates must have a strong understanding of child development, enjoy young adolescents, and display a passion for literature and the writing process. Candidates should enjoy collaborating with colleagues and engaging in the entire school experience. Additionally, teachers serve as advisors to a small group of students and become involved with co-curricular programs such as service learning or overnight student trips.

St. Matthew’s graduates matriculate to highly selective independent secondary schools. English class sizes range from 11-15 students. St. Matthew's Parish School is a co-educational day school for 350 students from Preschool through the Eighth Grade. Founded in 1949, the school is the educational member of the Episcopal Parish of St. Matthew. Located on 28 acres one mile from the Pacific Ocean in the village of Pacific Palisades, the campus includes 28 classrooms, a 10,000 volume library, a swimming pool, two science laboratories, three maker spaces, a gymnasium and performing arts center, and spacious playgrounds and playing fields. The school is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and the National Association of Episcopal Schools and is accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Compensation will be determined by years of teaching experience and other relevant qualifications. Teachers' salaries at St. Matthew’s are highly competitive, set to be on average in the top quartile of leading independent schools.
