The Upper School Photography Teacher opening is a part time position reporting to the Head of the Upper School. This position is responsible for teaching in the Art Department to students in grades 9-12. Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach two sections of photography to students at varying levels of experience
Prepare inspiring lessons in both darkroom and digital methods
Manage lab and workspaces efficiently according to best practices
Keep attendance records; manage student behavior in classroom and maintain a positive environment for all students
Observe and evaluate students’ progress
Participate in faculty meetings and teacher training workshops as appropriate
BA or BFA required, MA or MFA desirable
A minimum of two years’ experience teaching photography, preferably at the Upper School level
Strong skills and experience in both digital and darkroom photography
Strong communication skills in speech and writing
Ability to understand students’ educational and emotional needs
Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other teachers, support staff, parents and members of the community
Ability to recognize and respond to individual and cultural differences in students and utilize methods that result in deeper understanding and higher achievement
Enthusiasm and joy for working with students
