Connelly School of the Holy Child is a Catholic, college preparatory school, committed to the intellectual, spiritual, artistic, physical, and social development of young women in grades 6 through 12. The school emphasizes academic challenge, joy of learning, and education of well-rounded women of faith and action. This position will primarily be teaching Physical Education while assisting with the Middle School Athletics program.
Serving as the primary PE teacher, which requires teaching PE Classes to sixth through 10th
Providing all aspects of the PE curriculum and program planning.
Fostering a classroom environment that promotes and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body/mental/emotional function and exercise.
Creating a learning experience that motivates each student to cultivate physical fitness and appropriate social and emotional adjustment.
Discovering and developing talents of students in physical achievement that develops strength, skill agility, poise, and coordination in accordance with each student’s ability.
Communicating effectively with Athletic Director.
Coaching one sport per season as needed.
Working as a team with other teachers in the department, including sharing space & equipment.
Participating in gym, fitness center and locker room supervision.
Committing to professional growth to enhance student learning.
Actively committing to enhancing a school community through involvement on committees and student life activities.
Effectively and consistently communicating and interacting with students, parents, staff, and community.
Providing an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of young women.
Maintaining appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
Integrating the use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
Assisting with all aspects of the middle school athletic program including, but not limited to: game scheduling, securing officials, transportation, team management, field set-up, coordination with coaches and middle school teachers, uniform handout and collection.
Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelor’s Degree - M.A. or M.S. in Education or Teaching with teaching experience in various levels of secondary education 6-12. Master’s Degree preferred; MSDE certification preferred.
Ability to connect the curriculum to real-world scenarios and student background knowledge.

Willingness to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, and parents.
Experience using a variety of pedagogical strategies.

About Connelly School of the Holy Child
Connelly School of the Holy Child Founded in 1961 by the Society of the Holy Child Jesus as a college preparatory school for girls grade 6-12. The school is part of a network of 33 Holy Child schools in the United States, Europe and Africa, which is guided by the educational philosophy of Cornelia Connelly.
