Founded in 2005 to serve the rapid residential growth in Lower Manhattan, Léman opened its doors with 54 students. Today, Léman is the largest and fastest-growing private school downtown, with an enrollment of 900 day and boarding students from 16 months of age to 12th grade. Léman is Manhattan’s only boarding school and the leading neighborhood school for downtown families. The school also serves a diverse community of international students and the student body represents more than 50 countries of origin.
Communications Consultant Objectives
Léman seeks an experienced communications professional to join its team to develop and implement a strategic media relations and community outreach strategy to convey the school’s accomplishments and differentiators, raise awareness and understanding of Léman’s academic program and strong community, and ultimately drive admissions interest from qualified prospective families. The communications consultant will be responsible for:
Partnering with the Head of School, Head of Marketing and Communications and academic leadership team to develop story ideas for the media that convey the unique attributes of a Léman education
Generating press coverage for Léman that convey’s Léman leadership position in NYC independent schools and thought leadership on relevant and timely topics
Leveraging their existing relationships with the press and influencers to tell Léman’s story
Identifying community outreach opportunities in the Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn areas that raise Léman’s profile and connect with prospective families
Conducting networking and outreach with other downtown businesses and community leaders
Concepting and executing events such as parenting speaker series, forums and speaking opportunities for school leadership that demonstrate Léman’s subject matter expertise
Supporting the development and ongoing operation of the Léman Advisory Board
Results-driven, growth mindset and strong collaboration skills
Proven track record of advancing growth organizations through strategic media relations
Ability to set and deliver on specific media relations goals
